Five Takeaways from Our recent CxO Roundtable on Generative AI

For our recent CxO Roundtable, we drilled down on where Japanese companies were in their generative AI journeys. Eighteen CIOs participated, including three from Japan’s top four banks and two large insurers along with executives from manufacturing, pharma, cosmetics and IT. We were also joined by a few global AI companies who were eager to showcase their solutions and engage with Japanese companies, which are currently experimenting with generative AI with plans to invest heavily in the months and years ahead. Here are five takeaways from our session:

  • One megabank is investing JPY50 billion (approx. USD340 million) over the next four years to build their own AI system focused on customer engagement and sales
  • Companies are being stymied by a lack of talent to implement AI functions
  • Change management is needed as organizations embrace AI workflows
  • Data governance is more important than ever
  • Accessing information in large enterprises is an ongoing issue

Participants were very grateful that we invited their peers as well as global AI leaders to discuss their challenges and offer innovative solutions. In turn, we appreciate that Japanese companies are turning to Japan Cloud for exposure to global tech trends and best-in-breed solutions.
